Nigeria: Arms Deal - Haliru Bello Docked for Corruption Charges

The former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Mohammed Haliru Bello, has been docked at the Federal High Court (FHC) in Abuja for corruption charges related to the arms deal with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

Bello, who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on a four-count corruption charge, was brought into the court in a wheelchair.

The PDP chieftain was docked alongside his son, Abba Haliru Bello, who was brought by EFCC operatives while clutching his praying beads and a walking stick, and intermittently muttering words of prayer.

The duo are standing trial alongside BAM Projects and Properties Ltd on a four count criminal charge of collecting N600 million from the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
