Senate Committee on Ethics and Public Petitions stops screening of Amaechi

Senate Committee on Ethics and Public Petitions has stopped the screening of one of the ministerial nominees and former Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.

As the senate continued with the screening on Wednesday, having done quizzed 10 of the nominees on Tuesday, it deferred the scheduled screening of Amaechi because the Ethics and Public Petitions Committee failed to summit report on him.

The committee led by Simon Anyanwu informed the Senate President that the report of his committee which received and treated petitions against Mr Rotimi Amaechi was still not ready to be submitted to the floor of the Senate.

However, President of the Senate Bukola Saraki had mandated the committee to ensure the committee’s report was ready the next day for subsequent treatment.
